Cities large and small are seeing significant growth in the technology sector, leading to an increase in jobs and investment in digital infrastructure. But these increases have not meant more money or opportunity for all. According to a Stanford Research Study, women in STEM make $16,000 less than their male counterparts. In addition to pay disparity, the prevalence of the “tech bro” culture, lack of support for women returning to the workforce after having children, and blatant gender and cultural discrimination and sexual harassment are problems that plague the industry. For these reasons, companies, and individuals, are tackling these issues and stepping up to make change.More women are taking leadership roles at tech companies, and the trickle-down effect is undeniable. There’s more investment in STEM education for girls, workplaces are prioritizing a flexible and welcoming environment, and there’s a pipeline of women being mentored and sculpted into the next class of executive leadership. Join tech leaders on Thursday, June 27 for a discussion on what you and your organization can do to build a culture that fosters, and retains valuable tech talent.
